Pushpagiri Centre for Virology organizes a webinar on viral diagnostics
The Pushpagiri Centre for Virology organized a webinar on viral diagnostics on 13th June 2020. The session was titled ‘All you want to know about viral diagnostics’ and was organized on the Zoom platform. George Varghese, Scientist at PRC and in-charge of virology, led the session.
The session covered various aspects of laboratory diagnosis of viral infections and the novel techniques used for the same. He informed the audience about the viral diagnostic facilities available at Pushpagiri Centre for Virology. George Varghese also spoke in detail about the Covid19 outbreak and the diagnostic modalities used for the disease. He also clarified on the reasons why Pushpagiri is not doing Covid19 diagnostics, in spite of having Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction facilities and a Biosafety Level 2/3 lab. He further said that Pushpagiri had established viral diagnostic facilities way back in 2011 and was a pioneer in the domain. Almost 100 participants attended the webinar and actively participated in the proceedings.
